Learn more about the DJI Neo
The DJI Neo is a technological marvel designed for the general public. After many years of developing the drone industry, DJI offers a true solution for the average user with the DJI Neo. Designed to suit all types of users, the DJI Neo stands out for its high performance combined with superior ease of use.

Performance and features: remarkable capabilities
To begin with, this drone is extremely lightweight and compact, fitting in the palm of your hand. Indeed, the DJI Neo weighs only 135 grams and measures just 130 x 157 x 48.5 mm. This makes it easy to take anywhere and suitable for both everyday use and travel. Thanks to its removable battery, it offers a flight time of 18 minutes (17 minutes with the propeller guards, which we recommend leaving on the drone). Furthermore, the DJI Neo features Return To Home (RTH). This allows it to return to its starting point at any time. By default, it is also configured to activate automatically when the drone’s battery is low. This feature will also activate automatically when using QuickShots modes via a manual takeoff. Once the QuickShot is complete, the drone returns to you, ready to be landed.

The DJI Neo doesn’t have a microSD card slot, but it does have 22GB of internal storage. This allows it to record 40 minutes of 4K video at 30 frames per second or 55 minutes of 1080p video at 60 frames per second. Furthermore, the DJI Neo features QuickTransfer: using the DJI Fly app, you can wirelessly transfer media from your drone to your smartphone or tablet! The transfer is very fast, with a maximum theoretical speed of 25MB/s. This means you can download a 1GB 4K video of approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds in just 40 seconds. In other words, you won’t fill up the DJI Neo’s internal storage on a single battery charge, and you can take advantage of the time you’re changing or recharging the battery to transfer your photos and videos and get back to flying.
In terms of flight safety, the DJI Neo is a reinforced drone, as it is fully enclosed. Furthermore, the DJI Neo comes with propeller guards that ensure smoother flight, as the propellers are protected from the environment. Beyond the physical aspect, the robust connectivity linking the drone to its remote controller (DJI OcuSync 4.0 (DJI O4)) greatly reduces connectivity issues. Finally, despite its small size, the DJI Neo can withstand winds of up to 8 m/s (28.8 km/h). It will fly effectively below an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level.
In the standard DJI Neo package, the drone is supplied without a remote controller. The available control modes are: autonomous flight (manual takeoff/landing), voice control (via DJI Fly), and control with virtual joysticks (also via DJI Fly). Using DJI Fly and without a remote control, the drone’s flight range will be limited to approximately 50 meters.
Features: wide range of possibilities
Among the most impressive features of the DJI Neo is undoubtedly its palm takeoff (hand-operated takeoff and landing). The DJI Neo can take off without a remote controller from the palm of your hand. To do this, simply turn on the drone and press the autonomous shooting mode selection button located on the top of the DJI Neo’s casing.

From the top panel of the DJI Neo, you’ll find various QuickShots (Dronie, Circle, Rocket), as well as the “Follow Me” mode (AI-based intelligent tracking where the drone stays behind the subject and moves forward), the “Spotlight” mode, and a customizable mode (which by default is “DirectionTrack” (AI-based intelligent tracking where the drone stays in front of the subject and moves backward)).
The DJI Neo incorporates several autonomous shooting modes, such as QuickShots and Spotlight. These autonomous modes allow for the automatic recording of dynamic video footage. The drone frames a user-defined target and records video while automatically navigating to that target. Here are the different QuickShots available on the DJI Neo:
- Dronie
- Circle
- Rocket
- Boomerang (requires the DJI Fly app)
- Spiral/Propeller (requires the DJI Fly app)

As for Spotlight, it’s a “tripod” mode. The DJI Neo stays put and tracks its subject with its eyes. This is ideal for filming yourself while keeping the drone stationary.
The DJI Neo’s camera is stabilized by a single-axis gimbal (tilt axis adjustable from -90° to +60°), as well as by the RockSteady and HorizonBalancing digital stabilization systems. By default, RockSteady and HorizonBalancing are activated if you’re flying via the DJI Fly app or a standard remote controller. RockSteady provides overall image stabilization, ensuring a stable and smooth video, while HorizonBalancing keeps the horizon straight even if the drone tilts to one side or the other. These features can only be deactivated when flying the drone in FPV mode (DJI Goggles 3 + DJI RC Motion 3 or DJI FPV 3 remote controller).
To go further, with the DJI Neo
To increase the DJI Neo’s flight range up to 6 km (maximum theoretical range in Europe), a remote controller is required. The first remote controller for the DJI Neo drone is the DJI RC-N3, available in the DJI Neo Fly More Combo. The remote controller is essential for any pilot, much like the remote control for a remote-controlled car. It is dedicated to piloting the DJI Neo drone and allows for precise control.
Furthermore, note that the DJI Neo is also compatible with the following remote controllers: the DJI RC 2, the DJI RC-N2, or, for FPV enthusiasts, the DJI FPV 3 remote controller (available in the DJI Neo with DJI FPV 3 remote controller pack), the DJI RC Motion 3 remote controller (available in the DJI Neo with DJI RC Motion 3 pack), or the DJI Goggles 3 FPV headset (available in the DJI Neo Motion Fly More Combo pack).

Both in terms of piloting experience and actual performance, the DJI Neo can become incredibly immersive thanks to FPV equipment. For this, you simply need the DJI RC Motion 3 remote controller (or the DJI FPV 3 remote controller), along with the mandatory DJI Goggles 3 or DJI Goggles N3. The FPV remote controllers unlock “Acro” modes.
With the DJI RC Motion 3, a simplified “Acro” mode is unlocked. With a single click, you can make your drone perform pre-programmed acrobatic maneuvers (flips, rolls, 180°, 360°, etc.).
With the DJI FPV 3 remote controller, you can pilot your drone in a full “Acro” / Manual mode and thus enjoy a true FPV experience (note that the DJI Neo is not designed for the most extreme acrobatic maneuvers such as Dive, Powerloop, Split-S, Yaw-Spin, etc.).
Compatibility, accessories & applications: a permissive ecosystem
The DJI Neo is compatible with a wide range of equipment, ensuring its seamless integration for both general public use and within the broader DJI ecosystem and its capabilities. In addition to the equipment and accessories mentioned previously, the DJI Neo can also work in conjunction with the DJI Mic 2. Specifically, the DJI Mic 2 can be connected to the drone via the DJI Fly app. This allows users to add an audio track to their video footage, based on the recordings from the DJI Mic 2. The DJI Neo, when used with the DJI Mic 2, enables content creators to record aerial footage independently, as the drone combines video capture, automatic framing, and audio recording (DJI Mic 2). This also significantly reduces post-production editing time.

The DJI Neo ecosystem also includes various accessories, such as official spare parts and upgrades (batteries, propellers, propeller guards), as well as very practical equipment like the multi-charging station (allowing you to simultaneously charge up to 3 batteries in just 60 minutes with the 65W charger). Note that for charging, a 30W charger will be sufficient to take your battery from 0 to 100% in 50 minutes (via the drone).
Finally, there’s DJI Care Refresh insurance for the DJI Neo, which covers your drone activity. In the event of accidental damage, over a period of 1 to 2 years, you can benefit from 2 to 4 brand-new replacements for your device at a cost significantly lower than the price of buying a new drone.
