DJI Avata 360 with RC 2 remote controller: a format optimized for immersive capture

The DJI Avata 360 with RC 2 radio control is based on a compact and structured design around 360° capture. Weighing approximately 455 g and measuring 246 × 199 × 55.5 mm, it directly integrates its propeller guards, battery and sensors into a coherent assembly, designed to secure the components while maintaining good flight stability.

The intelligent flight battery is securely attached to the frame via an LED indicator to show the charge level. The drone also features 42GB of internal storage, complemented by a microSD card slot, allowing for immediate recording of footage without the need for additional accessories.

Structurally, the DJI Avata 360 incorporates a comprehensive environmental awareness system. It combines an omnidirectional optical system, a forward-facing LiDAR, and a 3D infrared sensor, enabling it to analyze the space around the drone and adapt its flight behavior accordingly.

The DJI RC 2 remote controller included in this package offers direct control with an integrated touchscreen, eliminating the need for a smartphone. It allows you to manage all flight parameters, adjust the camera view, zoom, and exposure settings using its dedicated dials.

Video quality and battery life of the DJI Avata 360

The DJI Avata 360 stands out for its ability to capture the environment in its entirety. It features two 1/1.1″ 64MP CMOS sensors, paired with an ultra-wide-angle lens offering a 200° field of view and an f/1.9 aperture. This configuration allows for the production of detailed images, usable in post-production with free framing in space.

In video mode, the drone records in 8K 360° at up to 60 frames per second (7680 × 3840), as well as in 6K 360° to adapt the formats to your needs. It also offers a single-lens mode in 4K up to 60 fps or 2.7K up to 120 fps, useful for more dynamic sequences. The video bitrate can reach 180 Mbps, with H.265 encoding and support for the D-Log M profile for enhanced color grading.

For still photos, the DJI Avata 360 can produce 120 MP images, with a SmartPhoto mode that automatically optimizes the image using HDR and scene recognition.

In flight mode, it offers a maximum flight time of 23 minutes, with intelligent battery management. The drone adjusts its power consumption according to conditions and can automatically trigger a return to home (RTH) when the battery level becomes insufficient. Its speed can reach 18 m/s in Sport mode, with wind resistance up to 10.7 m/s, allowing it to maintain stable behavior in various situations.

Intelligent tracking, automated capture, and advanced control

The DJI Avata 360 incorporates several features to facilitate shooting and enhance capture possibilities. FocusTrack mode allows you to follow a subject while maintaining a stable framing, with a fixed 104° field of view. The drone can move freely while keeping the subject centered in the image.

Various intelligent modes, such as ActiveTrack, Point of Interest (POI), and QuickShots, allow you to automatically generate dynamic trajectories and sequences. In 360° mode, the user can also navigate within the image, adjust the framing, manage the zoom, or access visual effects like the asteroid view.

The omnidirectional sensing system constantly analyzes the environment and adapts the flight path. Depending on the settings, the drone can avoid obstacles or brake automatically. These assistance features are particularly useful in Normal and Cinema modes, while Sport mode prioritizes responsiveness.

The DJI Avata 360 also offers different flight modes (Normal, Cinema, Sport) as well as several gimbal behaviors, including Follow mode to stabilize the horizon and FPV mode for a more direct immersion. When paired with the RC 2 remote controller, it provides precise control of trajectory, speed, and framing, with quick access to key commands.
